There it is. Hope for my sleepy eyes!
With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matt 19:26)
Jesus had been talking about the greatest miracle of all—salvation. He was referring to those (like the rich young ruler) who place hope in everything else but God to save them—material possessions, political parties, human relationships, earthly accomplishments, physical appearance, sexual identity, drugs, sex, and on and on.
Salvation is not impossible for any of these. No person is too far gone for the God, who makes all things possible, to save. This includes the ones we love and the ones we’ve pleaded with and tried to convince in our own strength.
But God is at work. He knows. He sees, and what may very well be impossible for us, is absolutely possible for Him.
And if God can create the heavens and the earth and turn death to life through salvation, surely no other circumstance we actually face or imagine can be impossible for Him either.
Let’s hold on to that. Let’s walk forward in that! Let’s hope in that! Or rather, let’s hope in Him!
