I know you get weary…

Jesus has already talked a lot about prayer then famously says, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you.” (Matt 7:7)

This is not prosperity preaching. This is encouraging instruction on the perseverance and power of prayer!

Jesus is telling us that our Father hears! He hears! Keep praying.

I know you get weary. So do I. I know your heart gets heavy with all the things on your mind. And, yes, we will come up against some things in life that feel like closed doors that aren’t budging.

But we don’t need to rely on our own strength, or try to kick the door down, we need only knock (pray) with persistence because our Father who desires to give us good things, is able to open closed doors! He’s at work on the other side.

He is completely able to make a way when there seems to be no way. I’ve seen Him do that before in my own life. I bet you have too. And remembering His faithfulness in our lives before, helps us keep praying to see His faithfulness again.

As we persistently pray (knock), yes, even as we wait for that door to open, God helps our weary hearts to align with His and be ready to receive the good things He will give.

And His answers are always good —though often not in the way we expect or can sometimes readily see.

But remember, our good Father sees all from beginning to end, He is all truly all-good, all powerful and infinitely wise. He is kind.

And the more we remember who we are talking to, the more we can keep knocking and at peace because we know His trustworthy answer is coming.
