Caramel Corn Spiritual Warfare

I wrote this a few years ago…I found myself needing some caramel corn today. Maybe you do too?
❤️😉

Hard. This week has just been hard.

I’ll spare you the details, because I know I am not the only one who has hard days—days filled with worry and dread where the troubles of this world seem almost suffocating.

But today, during it all, I made caramel corn.

Yes, caramel corn.

Tonight, twenty or so college students will gather at our house for Bible study. Most of them live in dorms far from home.

Y’all, they NEED caramel corn.

And I needed to make caramel corn.

As I stirred the brown sugar, butter and all the yumminess in that big ole pot, I began to focus on those kids.

I began to pray our home would be a place filled with smells, not only of caramel corn, but most notably of Jesus.

And as I stirred and stirred and waited for the caramel to boil, I noticed something else–my focus changed from myself and my list of problems to others and my emotions became much more peaceful.

Truly peaceful.

Proverbs 11:25 says, “A generous man will prosper, he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.”

It may sound like a silly little thing, but I am convinced God used caramel corn today.

In fact, I am convinced God can use absolutely anything – including caramel corn to wage a war in the heavenlies over us, when we choose to do what He says.

Proverbs 11:25 is a mighty truth that will cancel our self-imposed pity parties when we follow it’s wisdom.

I am sure the enemy would have preferred I remain in a self-focused funk; but once again, God’s Word is so good – it can be trusted and tried. It always proves true.

Are you down?

Are your blessings hard to see?

Have mounds of trouble come
your way?

Go make someone else some caramel corn…. or brownies, or pie, or serve them in some way….And watch the enemy flee!

Trust God to refresh you as you refresh others… and remember it is He who fights all our battles!!!
