Christian, your redemption is no small thing.

Yes, we stumble, and struggle, and fail, but we do not lose our inheritance when we do! If we did, our redemption would not be much of a redemption!

Paul writes, “Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins”. (Col 1:12-14)

We are qualified to partake of the inheritance of the saints because we have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus.

We did nothing.
He did everything!

Because we have been “conveyed to the Kingdom of the Son”, we have been forever delivered from the power of darkness!

Our chains have been broken and we FOREVER belong to a new, eternal Kingdom.

Spurgeon explains, “Beloved, we still are tempted by Satan, but we are not under his power; we have to fight with him, but we are not his slaves. He is not our king; he has no rights over us; we do not obey him; we will not listen to his temptations.”

Because our King, the One who shed His blood to buy our pardon, He is the “ the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.” (Col 1:15-20)

Our redeemer is God.
GOD HIMSELF!

This is a profound statement! And Paul, is very intentionally declaring the deity of Christ. He is the Great I Am! This description, in the verses above, are deep theological truths. Let’s don’t race past them. I would encourage you to go back and read them slowly again.

Paul is pointing out that Jesus is God. He came to earth in human form but has existed before time. He is Creator God. “All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.”(Col 1:16)

He rules over every throne, dominion, principality or power. (Col 1:16). He always has.

(Someone, say “HALLELUJAH!)

This same God left His throne in heaven and humbly came to earth as a baby to die in our place, to pay the penalty for our sins, so we may no longer be in darkness and chains but freely have access to the Holy God.

We can know God because of Jesus.

“God is invisible, which does not merely mean that He cannot be seen by our bodily eye, but that He is unknowable. In the exalted Christ the unknowable God becomes known.” (Peake)

An unknowable God sent His Son to die for us to save us and so we could know Him! And trust Him! And hope in Him!

And when we study to understand these truths, we can only conclude that a God who would do this for us is capable of sealing the deal forever.

It is finished.

He won’t leave us or forsake us for we are forever His—citizens of an eternal Kingdom that has no end! He has us. He loves us and He will not leave us. He alone is the perfect One.

What a Savior!

He has done it all! May we seek to know and love Him more each day, not to earn what we’ve already been given but for His glory and our good.

Oh, may the Lord help us to truly rest in that!
