The haters of the Lord pretend submission to Him. (Psalm 81:15)
And I can pretend submission to God while, in reality, I run my own life, rule my own way, do what feels “right” and all the while I can think, it’s “no big deal”.
Today, so many false teachers stand on stages, cherry-picking Scripture, sugar-coating sin, and promoting this kind of thinking with their hip books and cool titles.
Yet, God says those who do this aren’t just “wrong”, He says they HATE Him.
They HATE Him.
Jesus, Himself, said, “ Whoever is not with me is against me” (Matt 12:30). There is no neutral with Jesus.
What’s more, to hear truth and then continue in sin is a pathway to death the Bible says. (James 1:15)
A life not changed is an indication of a heart not changed. And hatred of God.
That’s not “hip” or cool to say….but it’s truth.
It’s not okay to be okay with what God calls sin…in your own life or someone else’s. (Go read Romans 1 and pay attention to the last sentence).
Sobering. Scary. Sad.
Dangerous!
God, help us refute the popular sugar-coated, feel good, garbage…the lies of the enemy and examine our lives against your Word.
Help us trust Your voice over those who deceive.
Show us the true condition of our hearts.
Help us truly love and follow You with all we have.
It is there, in daily dying to ourselves, in fleeing from sin that we find the sweetest peace that You intend for us.
Indeed, God, You are a good, good Father. We can trust You more than we trust ourselves, or our feelings, or the sugar-coated words of “friends” who encourage us in sin.
God, You alone are the freedom giver. Your plans for us really are exceedingly better than we could ask or imagine. (Eph 3:20)
You are the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6).
This day and every day.
