Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His Holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits! (Psalm 103:1-2)
Oh my soul.
Bless HIS Holy Name with ALL that is within me.
Not just some of me.
All of me.
But all of me is prone to wander.
I’m prone to forget.
I’m prone to forget His benefits.
I am prone to forget God’s blessings and become distracted.
Oh, how easily my soul forgets.
I forget that He forgives all my iniquities (Psalm 103:3).
My sins.
He forgives
ALL my sins.
He has washed me clean.
Not just some of me.
But all of me.
How quickly I forget He has healed my diseases and redeemed my life from destruction! (Psalm 103:3-4).
He took my sin upon Himself… Himself!
MY sin nailed Him to that Cross.
Instead of the punishment I deserved, Jesus crowned me with lovingkindness and tender mercies (Psalm 103:4).
Tender mercies.
He does this again and again.
And when I think I need more than He has already given, my Savior satisfies me with good things, too numerous to count, and renews my strength as an eagle (Psalm 103:5).
He is merciful and gracious.
He is slow to anger.
I’m not.
But He is.
Yes! He is abounding in mercy and has not dealt with me according to my sins or punished me according to my iniquities! (Psalm 103:9-10)
For I know MY iniquities and that is no small thing!!!
My sin is great but His mercy is greater!
For the one who cannot lie (Titus 1:2), says as the heavens are high above the earth, so GREAT is His mercy toward those who fear Him. (Psalm 103:11)
Oh, but do I fear Him?
Do I reverentially revere Him and give him His rightful place in my life?
Oh, how I fail at this daily.
Yet, the One to whom all fear is due, He calls Himself my Father.
He says, “As a father pities His children”, He has removed our transgressions from us as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:11-13).
And my Father, He has established His throne in Heaven and HIS kingdom rules over all! (Psalm 103:19)
Over ALL.
Over all this world
and over all that concerns me.
May my eyes look to Him.
Alone.
May my feet follow Him.
Alone.
May my heart adore HIM!
Alone.
Oh, BLESS the LORD, O my soul! (Psalm 103:22)
Not just some of me.
All of me.
Today.
In this day.
What a Savior!
