If you know God’s Word, and you love God’s Word, you won’t be led astray regardless of false teaching or trouble in the world around us.
The beloved disciple, the friend who had walked so closely with Jesus, John, wrote this letter (1st John) because he was concerned Christians might be led astray.
He states again and again, the key is to remember the gospel—what Jesus did for us. (See again 1 John 2:24-25)
When we deliberately remember, we can live each day with the power and encouragement that comes from remembering.
So today, and everyday, let’s pause and be filled with the hope that comes from knowing—
Jesus left a throne in Heaven, He was born to a virgin, He did not sin, He willingly went to the cross and died in our place. In three days, He rose again and was seen by hundreds of witnesses.
Jesus defeated death!
He came for us!
He’s not going to leave us or let us down! (Not even in that thing you just thought about! And I know some of you are going through some really HARD stuff).
John knew the hope of the gospel to be true. He was an eye witness to the supernatural !
And though our human eyes did not see what John saw, our hearts know it to be true.
John heard Jesus say, “blessed are those who have not seen and believe”. John wrote this down in his gospel account (John 20:29) so we could read it all these thousands of years later and be encouraged.
May we understand this— believing is one big belief (when we believe for salvation) and then a continual believing day after day that a God who would do what Jesus did, can be trusted for eternity and for every day in between.
Oh friend, read that again. Remind yourself of this truth. Walk in this glorious truth!!
His ways are better than our ways, in every way, and no matter what comes our way.
There is nothing too hard for Him (Jer 32:27).
And this same Jesus can be trusted more than we trust ourselves and He will never leave us or forsake us! (Heb 13:5).
He will be lifter of our heads (Psalm 3:3). He will dry every tear! He will make all things new! (Rev 21:4-5)
Oh praise Him!
Let’s remember what He has done and keep our eyes on Him!!
