I believe if you can compartmentalize your faith–your god is too small and possibly a false god you’ve defined in your own imagination.
For The Most High God is a consuming fire (Heb 12:29).
Our theology, our belief about God, should impact everything else in our lives.
And it actually does whether you think so or not.
If you decide what is right and wrong solely based on your emotions and experiences, then your theology is either that you believe there is no god, or there is a small god who is not involved in this world.
If this is your approach, you are functioning as an atheist or deist.
And I believe many who call themselves Christians do just this.
They do not bend their will to a Holy God but have created a false god who agrees with them all the time.
This god approves what they approve and what feels right to them. They treat the Bible like trail mix, picking and choosing the parts they like and ignoring the parts they don’t.
Those with this belief do not look at the world through a biblical worldview.
But those who believe in a God who created and controls the universe, conquered death, and is the only Way, the Truth and the Life, look at everything with this in mind.
Their faith impacts their every view and decision including their work, their family, their politics, and their entertainment.
They look at everything through the lens of what God calls right and wrong in His Word.
For they worship the One True God and know Him to be a consuming fire (Heb 12:29). They both fear Him and find peace in Him.
The question is, which are you?
For only those who have surrendered all they know of themselves to all they know of God, whose minds are controlled by the Spirit —the consuming fire, will find life and peace. (Rom 8:5-8).
For as many who are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God. (Rom 8:14).
