Not everyday is a hallelujah moment. Oh, but there are those days…🙌🏻

Jesus gives Peter, James and John a supernatural peak into His deity. Oh, they had seen miracles but what they were about to see and hear would cause them to fall flat on their faces ( Matt 17:1-9).

The face of Jesus shone like the sun and His clothes became as white as light!
Long dead, Moses and Elijah would appear talking and Peter talks about building a tabernacle for each of them.

But then, the booming voice of God would interrupt the babbling Peter!

It is then, that the three disciples go face-first to the ground in fear!

Can you imagine?

But, how often, I long for my eyes and ears to observe God that real and that near.
I’d surely be face in the dirt too!

But sometimes, if I’m being real, God seems so silent. So very far away.

Oh, but there are times I catch a glimpse of Him—speaking as if almost audible in my early morning study of His Word.

Like Peter, I want to build a tabernacle. I want to sit right there on my couch with my Bible in my lap and never leave. I want that moment to never ever end or be interrupted by the things of this world.

I love my quiet time with Jesus. It’s truly my favorite part of my day. What started out as a discipline has truly turned into a words-fail-me devotion.

But, I can’t stay there. Life and responsibilities call. Problems head my way. Trouble comes at us all.

Trouble would come for Peter, James and John too. But how much did that amazing supernatural Transfiguration moment on that mountain come to their minds and spur them on as they preached in hard places and faced hardship, prison, and, for two of the three of them, martyrdom?

I have to believe they believed they would see the glory of God again and it was enough to keep them going!

In a way, this is what keeps me opening my Bible. Not everyday is a hallelujah moment. There are days I don’t seem to get much out of it. But there are those other days where the words I read speak directly to my heart, comfort me in a trial or direct my steps.

There are days, too, where one word can slay me. Tears fall and my hands raise at the awesomeness of our God.

Oh friends, God sent His beloved Son to us! Those in Christ will spend eternity with Him! But until then, He has given us His Spirit and His Word.

Let’s seek to daily hear His voice! Let’s meditate on the things which we learned, and received, and saw, and heard in Christ, let’s do these things, and as you do, “the God of peace will be with you”! (Phil 4:8-9)

Glory!
