Where are the faithful?

I wonder, have we forgotten the importance, the incredible value of FAITHFULNESS , in those we look to as our teachers?

Paul encouraged Timothy to commit the things he had heard from him to FAITHFUL men who would be able to teach others. (2 Tim 2:2)

Are we more drawn to big personalities, who can tell funny stories, than we are to faithful Bible teachers who endure hardship as good soldiers of Jesus Christ, and who do not entangle themselves with the affairs of this life; but are, above all most concerned with pleasing the One who enlisted them as soldiers? (2 Tim 2:3-4)

Oh friend, right now, so many we’ve looked to as teachers are compromising the faith in order to please this world. It’s almost a daily headline.

They are backing down from truth from the Word at the least little bit of criticism from our lost culture. Watch for it.

One by one they are falling victim to the praise of men over the praise of God.

Oh, may we pray for the Lord to raise up FAITHFUL men and women who will stand strong for truth in this hard world-knowing even if that brings chains, the Word of God can never be chained! (2 Tim 2:9)

May God stir this up in our own hearts, so like Paul, we might, “endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.” (2 Tim 2:10)

Let’s seek out and set under teachers who “rightly divide the word of truth” (2 Tim 2:15) and who still call wrong “wrong” and right “right”. Let’s support them and their churches.

“But (let’s) shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. And their message will spread like cancer.” (2 Tim 2:16)

Cancer!

Self-help, me-focused, gobbly-goop, truth-light, world-pleasing, teaching is a cancer!

Yes, we desperately need faithful disciples who will teach the Word of God without watering it down so the lost may be saved, and the broken restored, and the captives set free!

As Paul sat in chains, knowing the Word of God could not be chained, he also knew the time was short! The consequences were huge!

Faithfulness matters! Friend, it still does! May the Lord, to Whom all glory is due, find us faithful! Faithful to truth and faithful to Him!
