It’s Holy Week. Palm Sunday’s church songs are growing faint in our ears.
Gas prices are said to skyrocket.
A former President is indicted.
A country music award show celebrates drag queens.
We find ourselves frustrated, worried and distracted.
But our hearts need Jesus just as much this Tuesday as we did Sunday.
Honestly, in this messed up world, we need, more than ever, to daily behold the glory of the One who died for us.
When I turn my eyes to Him, I stand in awe again.
Things of this life, take their rightful place. I find my soul flooded with incomparable peace… again.
God, give us eyes to behold Your glory and see You in this day. Help us recognize Your Holy presence is truly all around us.
Open our eyes again to Your Mighty Hand at work in this life you’ve given.
Allow us to catch just a glimpse of the demons You are slaying at our feet …for if we could fully see the battle around us we might flee in fear.
Oh, but show us the paths You are making straight and the mountains You are still moving!
Oh God, open our eyes to the favor You are showing us and to the many ways You are providing for us.
May every sparrow of spring remind us that You are always our provider. As You were on the Cross, You are always faithful!
God, over and over, You make Your presence known in the sunrise and the sunsets. You move as the gentle breeze among us. Your beauty is in the flowers of spring. As Your rain waters the land, Your Living Word waters our souls. Day in and day out, You draw us near.
Your love beckons us to see You in your creation. The stars display Your glory. The oceans roar with Your mighty power. The thunder and the lightning remind us You cannot be contained or predicted.
Your ways are not our ways, just as on the Cross, they are always so much better.
Though you’ve gone to prepare a place for us in Heaven, may we know You are always close and always good.
In the stillness of each early morning, help us hear your gentle whisper. Tune our hearts to delight in Your commands again. May we hunger and thirst for righteousness. May we turn from sin’s seductive strangle once more.
As burdens and trials come our way, may we remember we will not live one second alone. For You, who came to rescue us, are always with Your children.
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort us. You are our shepherd, and where You go, help us to keep following.
And when the day brings tears, you hold us close. You, who died for us, You won’t leave us. Like a nursing mother, You never forget about us.
At this very moment, You are at the throne praying for us, even when we don’t know how to pray for ourselves.
And God your love, a love that left Heaven to rescue us, will never cease.
My mind cannot fathom the depths of your mercy and rivers of grace You freely pour out to us. Just in this day.
Though I fail You, and will fail You more, You have never failed me. Though I’ve been faithless, You are always faithful.
Oh yes Father, let us see You still bringing good. Let us count our many blessings again.
But may we also remember You’ve already done more than we could ever deserve when you sent your Son to die for us.
Oh Lord, as we see the hard world even in this Holy Week, help us not forget the Cross. May our hearts be drawn to worship You, and let us behold Your presence and see Your glory in this day.
All glory to Jesus!
