Just a few of the emotions the writers of the Psalms had as they cried out to God.
Why do we hold back?
Why do we feel we must only come to God with “pretty prayers”?
This is not Biblical.
Running to God with our struggles and unkempt emotions is what God shows us throughout Scripture and it is an act of faith in itself because it says, “I believe God is on the throne ruling over all that concerns me and can do something about it.”
Sitting down to read my Bible is also an act of faith because it says, “I believe God has something to say to me that I need to hear.”
Nothing about prayer and reading the Word is meant to be some stuffy, dry religious exercise.
No, we are to run to our Loving Father even (and especially) when we are messed up and overwhelmed…
as we honestly pour out our messy hearts to Him and seek Him through His Word;
We find He is a shelter for us…the solid ROCK that is higher than us.
We find rest under the shelter of His strong wings!
